IATDMCT Needs You!

The International Association for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology (IATDMCT) is an organization consisting of health care professionals and scientists focused on promoting therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and clinical toxicology worldwide. The membership of IATDMCT is truly multi-national, and is represented by participants from Asia, Latin America, Europe, North America, Africa, and Australia. IATDMCT is responsible for publishing the journal Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, and holds a biennial International Congress at changing venues throughout the world. The 13th Congress will be held in September 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah and the 14th Congress in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in the fall of 2015.

What does IATDMCT do?

The membership of IATDMCT operates with three specific aims in mind:

  • to promote the knowledge, development and understanding of clinical drug analysis and interpretation of results;
  • to enhance communication amongst health care professionals and scientists of all disciplines involved in TDM and clinical toxicology;
  • to encourage the effective application of TDM and clinical toxicology, with the aim of optimizing clinical drug use and maximizing the clinical and economic benefits.

IATDMCT also works with other organizations (e.g. AACB, AACC, IFCC, SOFT, TIAFT) to promote education in the area of TDM and Toxicology, particularly in developing countries, and to promote best practices. The Association works to encourage cross-disciplinary communication and collaboration, in order to promote comprehensive and effective professional solutions to challenges in the fields of TDM and clinical toxicology. There is no other scientific organization that promotes the interest of TDM and clinical toxicology internationally.

What is in it for you?

In addition to the biennial congress meeting, IATDMCT:

  1. Provides many opportunities for continuing education. The Association collaborates with other organizations such as those specified above to organize scientific sessions at their respective meetings.
  2. Provides opportunities to serve on scientific committees focused on topics such as: immunosuppressive drugs, pharmacometrics, pharmacogenetics, standards of practice, new sampling strategies, clinical toxicology/drugs of abuse, anti-infective drugs, and HIV drugs.
  3. Has a Young Scientists’ Group which offers not just opportunities for career growth, but focuses on developing new leaders in the field for the future.
  4. Offers the opportunity to network with colleagues from around the world, and access to international expertise in the field of TDM and clinical toxicology.
  5. Membership includes free online access to Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, and regular editions of the Compass, the IATDMCT newsletter.

For health care professionals and scientists that specialize in TDM and clinical toxicology, active membership in IATDMCT will be one of the best choices you can make. Please contact the IATDMCT office office@iatdmct.org if you have any questions.
