Our aims are:

  • Foster and promote education and research in therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology;

  • Improve the standards of practice and clinical interpretation of drug and toxic substance analyses and facilitate the delivery of interpretation through clinical pharmacokinetics and toxicokinetics for enhanced patient care;

  • Encourage cooperation with and among members of all professions concerned with TDM and clinical toxicology;

  • Encourage the effective application of therapeutic drug monitoring to optimize clinical drug use and maximize the clinical and economic benefits;

  • Encourage progress in clinical toxicology as a diagnostic tool and therapeutic aid for therapeutic drug overdoses, drug abuse, and exposure to environmental toxicants.

Membership Information

Purpose of the International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology (IATDMCT):

  • The IATDMCT is an organization formed by an International group of scientists and physicians, to promote the related disciplines of therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology worldwide. Our aims are:

    • to promote the knowledge and understanding of clinical drug analysis and interpretation of results

    • to enhance communication between scientists and physicians of all disciplines involved in therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology

    • to encourage the effective application of therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology; with the aim of optimizing clinical drug use and maximizing the clinical and economic benefits

  • Professionals with an interest in either therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology are urged to join. No other society promotes the interest of TDM and clinical toxicology internationally.

Membership Terms of Reference

  • Membership is valid until resignation from membership is received in writing from a member to the Association. (ByLaw 4.6)
  • Membership dues are payable each year by January 1.
  • Members whose dues are outstanding will be changed from Active status to Inactive status.  Inactive members are not eligible to receive reduced Congress fees, stand for election, receive the Compass newsletter, or have online access to the IATDMCT website or the TDM journal until all back fees outstanding are paid.
  • In December of each year the Office will produce a list of those members who have held Inactive status for 3 years for review by the IATDMCT Executive, who will decide whether membership will be terminated.
  • The Congress registration fee for non-members shall be higher than the fee for members by an amount of at least 2 years' dues.  Individuals who join the association in the year of the Congress will pay only that year's dues.
